Masters in
the Making

The look, the words and the feel – all in one place.
The essence

What we are

Masters in the Making is a children's art-history workshop – kids meet a great artist, hear their story, then make a bold masterpiece of their own. It's part gallery, part making-table, and entirely theirs. A program by La Vita Nova, our creative studio in South Yarra.

Meet the great artists through history – then make a masterpiece of your own.

Logo & mark

The signature

Our mark is a little cut-out family: a circle, a square and a triangle – the simple shapes every child starts with, and a nod to Matisse-style cut-outs. It pairs with the wordmark, where "in the Making" carries the cobalt.

Do

  • Keep clear space around the mark – at least the height of the circle.
  • Use the cream wordmark on cobalt or dark backgrounds.
  • Always tie kids programs back to La Vita Nova with the "a La Vita Nova program" line.

Don't

  • Recolour the three shapes or rearrange them.
  • Stretch, rotate or add effects to the wordmark.
  • Place the wordmark on a busy photo without a solid colour block behind it.
Colour

The Colour Field palette

Bold primaries on warm paper. Let one colour lead each layout (roughly 60–70%), with one or two brights as support and a single sharp accent. Cobalt is our anchor.

The look

Poster, not corporate

Think screen-printed poster: bold colour blocks, crisp 2–3px ink borders, chunky offset shadows, generous rounded corners, and playful cut-out shapes scattered like confetti.

How we sound

Like a warm, clever friend who happens to know a lot about art. We talk to parents and kids at once – never talking down, never showing off.

Do

  • Be warm and encouraging: "there are no mistakes, only new shapes."
  • Keep it plain and vivid – short sentences, real words.
  • Use Australian spelling: colour, favourite, recognise.
  • Use en-dashes ( – ), not em-dashes.
  • Lead with the child's experience and what they'll make.

Don't

  • Use jargon, hype or "edu-speak."
  • Be precious or exclusive – we're playful, not fancy.
  • Over-promise or use pushy sales language.
  • Overuse exclamation marks or emoji.
  • Forget the tagline energy: meet an artist, then make.
Lines that sound like us
