Spin up a new artist pack

Every Sunday runs on the same shape. Follow these six steps and any artist – Picasso, Van Gogh, Kusama, Klimt – becomes a full pack in about an hour, not a day. Matisse and Frida are your worked examples.

1

Pick the artist & the make

Choose an artist with (a) a kid-friendly story and (b) one bold, simple thing to make. Keep the make to two parts, ~40 minutes total.

  • Matisse → two cut-out collages → wrapped into a paper vase around a jar
  • Frida → self-portrait + 3D flower crown
  • Next up: Picasso → mixed-up faces · Kusama → dot art · Van Gogh → starry night
2

Research (kid-safe facts + a video)

Confirm life dates and 4–5 warm, age-appropriate facts. Handle any hard parts gently. Find ONE short (3–5 min) kid-friendly YouTube video and make a QR for it.

3

Build the 17-slide deck

Reuse the structure: Title · Meet the artist · Watch (video + QR) · Their world · a game · the story · the big idea · fun facts · gallery of 3–4 real works (stylised homages, never copies) · a game · the secrets · warm-up · your turn · how-to for the make · artist words · show & tell · closing. No emoji – use drawn shapes and numbered circles. Teacher notes on every slide.

4

Workbook (6 pages) + run-sheet (90 min)

Workbook: cover · meet the artist (4 facts + prompt) · the secrets · artist words · plan-your-make · reflection. Run-sheet: welcome · video · story + games · secrets + warm-up · the make (2 parts) · show & tell + photo · close – mapped to the slide numbers.

5

Shopping extras + set the room

Core kit stays the same every week (see the sourced list). Add only what's artist-specific. The room setup, signage, paper bar and pops-of-colour centrepiece never change.

6

Comms, certificate & socials

The family comms (reminder + follow-up), the certificate, the attendance sheet and the social templates are all universal – just swap the artist and date. Post the "This Sunday" graphic, send the reminder, run the class, hand out certificates, send the follow-up.

The weekly rhythm: Mon–Tue build/confirm the pack · Wed post "This Sunday" + send the reminder · Sun run the workshop, hand out certificates, take photos · Sun/Mon send the follow-up + post "look what they made."
